Lieutenant DeGraffenreid was appointed to the Patrol on October 20, 2002, as a member of the 80th Recruit Class. In 2009, DeGraffenreid was promoted to corporal, and remained in Zone 13, Pettis County. On April 1, 2011, DeGraffenreid was promoted to sergeant and designated the zone commander of Zone 10, Saline County. On June 1, 2013, DeGraffenreid transferred to Zone 13, Pettis County, as the zone commander, where he remained until his promotion.
