In fact, two-thirds of Democratic voters and more than four in ten independent voters say health care costs will have a “major impact” on their 2026 voting decisions.
The latest KFF Health Tracking Poll finds health care costs top the list of what the public worries about being able to afford for themselves and their family.
Notably, health care costs are the biggest worry compared to other household expenses for all adults, regardless of partisanship.
Overall, more than half (55%) of adults say their health care costs have increased in the past year.
Majorities across insurance types expect their health care costs to become less affordable.
