One driver was killed Monday in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 101 near Laytonville, the California Highway Patrol reported. After reportedly sideswiping the Chevrolet, the Ford “collided with the left side of the Freightliner’s flatbed trailer. The Freightliner continued northbound on US-101 and pulled into a dirt shoulder, just north of the scene. The Ford came to rest straddling the double yellow lines.”The driver of the Ford, whom the CHP did not identify by name, age, gender or city of residence, was reportedly pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. Personnel from Caltrans, Cal Fire, the Laytonville Fire Department and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
