Traffic congestion worsened across Athens on Thursday afternoon following intense rainfall brought by Storm Kristin, with drivers facing extremely slow-moving traffic on major arteries, particularly in western parts of the capital. One of the hardest-hit areas was Kifissos Avenue, the city’s main north-south highway, where traffic in the direction toward Lamia came to a near standstill. See live traffic updates hereSignificant disruptions were also reported in central Athens, where circulation became increasingly difficult, as well as along Kifissias Avenue, one of the capital’s busiest routes linking downtown with northern suburbs. Problems extended beyond the city center to Attiki Odos, the toll motorway serving greater Athens and connecting key transport hubs. Additional slowdowns of up to 10 minutes were reported on the Hymettus Ring Road toward Kareas.
