Pictures show a road surface ripped apart in a Devon village after being infiltrated by flood water. Chunks of Station Road near Exeter have crumbled after being submerged on Tuesday (January 27) during Storm Chandra, forcing the road's closure. It is thought that the destruction in Newton St Cyres was caused by underlying soil being swept away, leaving the structure unsupported and damaging the surface above it. Devon County Council have confirmed a temporary road closure both in Newton St Cyres and elsewhere around Devon. It's depressing isn't it, it's just rain, rain, rain!"
