When Storm Goretti hit Cornwall on January 8, not only did it plunge Porthallow, near St Keverne on the Lizard Peninsula, into darkness and take out its water supply, it also brought down its internet connection. It is the village seemingly forgotten about while the rest of the world moved on. One local resident is battling a terminal illness, with no way to get help should their condition deteriorate. They said: "We’re very sorry the community of Porthallow is still without phone or broadband following Storm Goretti. The storm caused the biggest impact to our network in Cornwall in recent memory, with the damage caused in the vicinity of Porthallow some of the worst.
