The Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) campaign has fought for years for redress over how changes to the pension age were communicated to 1950s-born women. She said: “It is frankly wrong that the Government has once again chosen to reject compensation for the 1950s women affected by state pension age changes. An Ombudsman report has previously suggested compensation of between £1,000 and £2,950 per woman could be appropriate, keeping the row over Waspi women firmly alive. The Government’s decision to deny Waspi women compensation is “frankly wrong”, the chairwoman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women has said.
