Residents in Kelvedon and Feering say they are alarmed after Braintree Council’s local plan sub-committee voted to send its draft Local Plan to full council.
Councillors meet on February 2 and will be asked to send the 5,000-home plan to Regulation 18 public consultation.
It comes after last week’s vote to accept the council’s highways evidence and list Kings Dene for 5,000 homes in the draft Local Plan.
The neighbouring Monks Farm proposal for 600 homes south-west of Coggeshall Road in Kelvedon is also included in the draft Local Plan.
But residents and parish councils say it is speculation used to justify a development whose viability has not been proven.
