The proposals for Clements Hall Leisure Centre in Hawkwell and Rayleigh Leisure Centre are “to ensure they remain a valued community facility for all residents” and will reduce the net cost of leisure centre provision, Rochford Council says. It will include the refurbishment of the pool areas and changing rooms at Clements Hall Leisure Centre, the refurbishment of the gym, and upgrades to the cycling studio and wellness studio. The Rayleigh Leisure Centre will see the café back of house, creche facilities refurbished, a refresh of the existing studio space, and a refurbishment of the first-floor gym space. Last October, when the plans were announced, bosses insisted investment is "just the start" of their major ambitions for the future. Danielle Belton, Tory leader of the council, added: “The £4.4million investment in Clements Hall and Rayleigh Leisure Centre will transform our facilities by delivering modern gyms, improved swimming facilities, upgraded changing areas, refreshed studios and new energy‑efficient improvements.
