The rise is part of a plan to help fund a £1 billion investment programme aimed at upgrading water services across both counties. Essex and Suffolk Water said on Facebook: "From April, the average water bill will go up by around £15 a year, meaning the average cost of the bill will be about 91p a day. Essex and Suffolk Water said: "These changes will help fund one of our biggest five-year upgrade plans in our history (£1bn), with essential projects already underway across Essex and Suffolk." Essex and Suffolk Water is planning more than 350 projects, which will include replacing old water mains and upgrading treatment facilities.
