A gas pipeline rupture in Tyler has prompted evacuations for residents in the area. A crash occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday morning at Highway 31 W and Whiteside Dr. where a vehicle struck a natural gas pipeline causing the main natural gas line to rupture, according to the Tyler Police Department. The crash ruptured the main natural gas line and will take hours to shut off completely as well as repair. According to CBS19, one Tyler police officer was taken to the hospital after feeling ill while responding to the rupture. Tyler Police and Tyler Fire personnel are on scene and directing traffic.
