CLOQUET — Northern Lights Academy, a public education cooperative that provides special education services for students across the Arrowhead Region, is renewing efforts to secure state funding for a building of its own.
But Northern Lights Academy can serve roughly only 50 students, primarily due to limited space.
The district is seeking $6.5 million in state bonding, which would be matched 50% locally, for a building to serve as the home of the Northern Lights Academy.
Founded eight years ago, Northern Lights Academy is operated through a joint power agreement among school districts in Carlton, St. Louis, Lake, Aitkin and Pine counties.
ADVERTISEMENTNorthern Lights Academy is considering either constructing a new building or purchasing an already existing structure.
