Residents of parts of Imo and neighbouring South-east states have been thrown into fresh panic following the resurfacing of Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as Gentle De Yahoo, months after the Nigerian military announced his capture. His reappearance has reignited fears in Imo State, particularly in Okigwe Local Government Area, where he has been linked to a series of violent attacks, killings and kidnappings. The development has also raised questions about earlier claims by the military regarding his arrest or possible death during security operations in the region. At the time, reports suggested he and some of his fighters were feared dead, sparking public celebration across parts of Imo State. He has also been accused of personally executing some of his aides, videos of which circulated widely and reportedly triggered intensified security operations against him.
