In a major cleanup effort, YouTube has removed or heavily restricted channels responsible for more than 4.7 billion total views, most of which came from what many now call “AI brainrot” or “AI slop” content. Out of the top 100 most-subscribed AI slop channels identified in late 2025, at least 16 have now been de-platformed. Combined, the 16 removed channels had more than 35 million subscribers and were generating close to $10 million per year. YouTube is reportedly relying on its existing systems designed to fight spam, clickbait, and misleading content to detect AI slop.
