In response to growing numbers of students panicking at the mention of m*dterm ex*ms, members of the “Don’t Say It” club on UC Santa Barbara’s campus are trying to make a change.
The club, consisting mostly of linguistics majors, has pushed to rename the triggering phrase to something less harmful to student’s psyche.
This is in response to the common knowledge that it is the word itself that makes students so stressed out.
Based on these steps, the adoption of this new term seems inevitable, and has inspired a larger movement.
