Amazon will lay off about 16,000 employees in its second major round of job cuts in three months as it restructures operations to move faster and compete more aggressively in artificial intelligence, the company announced on Wednesday. The reductions affect roles throughout the company and follow a decision announced in late October 2025 to cut 14,000 corporate jobs. In a message sent to employees, Amazon said it was continuing a restructuring effort to simplify its organization. “The reductions we are making today will impact approximately 16,000 roles across Amazon,” Galetti said, calling the decision “difficult news” for staff. Amazon said it will offer most US-based employees affected by the layoffs 90 days to search for other internal roles.
