DWP confirms no compensation for Waspi state pension communication errorThe Government has apologised for delays in writing to 1950s-born women about changes to the state pension ageView Image Waspi campaigners (Image: PA)Waspi women who have been fighting for government compensation will receive nothing, the Work and Pensions Secretary has announced. ‌However, the question of compensation is based on "how changes to the state pension age were communicated", not previous policy decisions, the minister explained. He also told MPs: "We accept that individual letters about changes to the state pension age could have been sent earlier. ‌Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) have campaigned tirelessly for compensation over how state pension reforms were communicated. A Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman report had previously recommended compensation of between £1,000 and £2,950 for each person affected by the communication of state pension changes.
