An Overland Park, Kansas, man was sentenced on Jan. 27, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark to 15 years and 9 months in federal prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release. Jason M. Shellenbergar, 50, was sentenced to serve his term in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons after previously pleading guilty to two counts of distribution of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography involving a victim younger than 12 years old. Upon release from incarceration, Shellenbergar will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to both federal and state sex offender registration requirements, which may apply for the remainder of his life. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Maureen A. Brackett. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force in cooperation with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.
