A former Farmington, Missouri, kindergarten teacher admitted Wednesday to possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material, according to federal court records. Erika L. Morton, 37, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau to one count of possession of child pornography. Court documents state that Morton admitted to transmitting child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as CSAM, through the Kik Messenger application. According to her plea agreement, the Missouri State Highway Patrol received a cybertip in February 2025 reporting that a Kik user had uploaded multiple video files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
