MK2 Films, the Paris based company behind best picture contenders, has boarded Kornél Mundruczó’s “At the Sea” starring Oscar-nominated Amy Adams (“Vice”), ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Berlinale. “At the Sea” marks the latest feature from Mundruczó, a leading Hungarian filmmaker who’s presented several films in competition at Cannes and won the Un Certain Regard prize with “White God” in 2014. Popular on VarietyDue to Mundruczó’s and Adam’s awards-friendly pedigree, “At the Sea” stands out as one of the anticipated highlights of this year’s Berlinale competition lineup. The film reunites Mundruczó with MK2 Films (“Sentimental Value,” “The Secret Agent”), which is also co-producing and handling international sales on his upcoming film “The Revolution According to Kamo,” a Joseph Stalin origin story. “We have long admired Kornél Mundruczó’s work and unique vision, needless to say, we’re very excited for buyers to discover this powerful story of human connection and first time collaboration with the supremely talented Amy Adams,” said Fionnuala Jamison, MK2 Films’ managing director.
