A campaign to count the scale of the gull population has been snubbed over claims it would cost a whopping £2.8 million to do the job. Moray-based MSP Douglas Ross had earlier secured backing for his audit to tackle the “menace” of gulls in coastal communities. Mr Ross has been campaigning to tackle the impact of gulls, repeating claims in parliament that a 10-year-old in Inverness was hospitalised after an attack. ‘Don’t get overexcited about gulls’“We had an estimate done of what it would cost to do Mr Ross’s survey,” he told parliament. “The result was £2.8 million a year, every year, because the proposal was imprecise and did not discuss the details.
