Morocco’s weather agency (DGM) issued a red-level weather alert on Thursday for Chefchaouen, warning of extreme rainfall and potentially dangerous conditions beginning Thursday at 11:00 a.m. until Friday at 6:00 p.m.Rainfall totals of 90 to 120 millimeters are expected during the alert period, raising a high risk of flooding, landslides, and travel disruption, particularly in mountainous and low-lying areas. The storm system will also bring heavy rain of 60 to 90 millimeters to Al Hoceima and Larache, while several other northern provinces are under orange-level alerts. In addition to torrential rain, the DGM warned of strong wind gusts reaching 75 to 85 km/h, which could worsen conditions and increase risks to road safety and infrastructure.
