When the Washington Nationals break camp in Florida next month, they'll reportedly have a new infielder joining them who brings four partial seasons of major league experience. Primarily known for his glove, Alcántara has played a total of 193 major league games for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, Diamondbacks, and Giants. His best season came in 2021 with the Cubs, as he totaled 0.4 bWAR in 89 games, thanks to his slightly above-average defense at shortstop. If the Nationals can be sure of anything, it's that Alcántara is willing to grind.
