The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a comprehensive traffic management study at Kashmir Chowk, Islamabad, to tackle the chronic congestion at this busy signal-free junction. The initiative aims to improve mobility, reduce travel delays, and provide sustainable traffic solutions in one of the city’s most congested areas. Kashmir Chowk has long been a traffic bottleneck, with heavy vehicles, unregulated movement, and inadequate pedestrian facilities contributing to daily gridlocks. Officials emphasized that the plan will exclude signal-based interventions, instead prioritizing geometric road improvements, access management, and efficient traffic operations. Traffic congestion at Kashmir Chowk is symptomatic of Islamabad’s growing vehicle population and rising urbanization.
