According to the minister, improved connectivity must go hand in hand with strong data protection frameworks to build trust and unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s digital economy. Speaking at the event, the National Commissioner of the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Vincent Olatunji, said the data protection ecosystem has grown into a N16.2 billion industry, generating over 23,000 jobs and attracting increased foreign investment. He added that the commission plans to intensify enforcement of the Nigeria Data Protection Act, alongside expanding public awareness and capacity-building initiatives across the country.
