WESTFIELD — There were no injuries associated with a minor fire inside the Westfield Electroplating Company on North Elm Street Wednesday morning. “There was a fire in the back of the building,” said Fire Department Deputy Chief Seth Ellis about the incident. Despite that, the Westfield Police Department closed off streets in the general area as a precautionary measure. Also, as a precautionary measure, Ellis said the state Department of Fire Services Hazmat team responded to the scene. After the fire was extinguished, Ellis said the department maintained a fire watch to make “absolutely sure” it was out.
