An investigation has been launched into the way police in Northern Ireland managed allegations of inappropriate conduct made against a former police officer while he was still a serving PSNI member. These include a suspected rape, other sexual offences, and misconduct in public office. Police Ombudsman chief executive Hugh Hume said: “This investigation centres on how a number of allegations made against the police officer were handled at that time. “These are sensitive issues and those who made allegations did so in difficult circumstances. “My priority is to ensure that their voices remain at the centre of the investigation as it progresses.”
