Banking firm Santander is to shut four of its Northern Ireland branches in the first half of 2026, taking total closures in the north since last June to 11. Santander is to shut another four of its Northern Ireland branches this year. It plans to close 44 UK bank branches in total in a move putting 291 jobs at risk. The latest round of closures with leave Santander with just 10 branches in Northern Ireland, less than half the network it maintained prior to June 23 2025. Santander said closing branches will be replaced with “community bankers”, who will operate via ‘Santander Local’ set-ups in local community centres.
