In a reprieve for West Bengal's Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Suvendu Adhikari, the State Government today assured the Calcutta High Court that no coercive action will be taken against the BJP leader until the next scheduled hearing on his plea on February 19, 2026. Adhikari approached the HC last week seeking protection against alleged coercive actions by the police in connection with a criminal case registered against him at Chandrakona Police Station. Regarding the convoy attack, he submitted that the attack occurred immediately after Adhikari served a legal notice on the CM on January 9th for making false allegations. He finally submitted that, given this history, there should be no coercive action taken against the petitioner.
