Fear and disbelief have gripped parts of Bomet county after a young man was killed in what police believe was a family dispute driven by allegations of an illicit relationship. Police say the victim, 32-year-old Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, was killed in the Ndanai area of Sotik sub-county following a confrontation with his nephew, Hillary Cheruiyot Sang. According to a Citizen Digital report, the dispute began after Sang accused his uncle of cohabiting with his mother, claims that are now central to the ongoing probe. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered, and detectives say this remains a key focus of the investigation. Elsewhere, a middle-aged man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death during a dispute over family land in Makueni.
