The warrant reportedly references statutes that criminalize voter intimidation, the submission of fraudulent ballots and the failure to properly retain federal election records for the period required by law.
The search was conducted at the county’s election hub, but legal custody of the ballots rests with the clerk of the Fulton County Superior Court under Georgia law.
A planned briefing by federal officials was later called off, and agencies declined to provide details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Fulton County, home to Atlanta and a Democratic stronghold, was a focal point of those allegations after Joe Biden won the state by a margin of fewer than 12,000 votes.
The current probe also follows a civil lawsuit filed by the Justice Department last month seeking a court order to compel the Fulton County clerk to release 2020 ballots and related records.
