She is on her way to a rehearsal in London for one of the concerts she will bring to Otley Baroque Festival at the end of the month. There can’t be many towns our size with their own Baroque Festivals, and Otley Baroque is Asuka. Her first concert in Otley was a baroque concert held to raise funds for St Georges Crypt, a charity supporting the homeless in Leeds. This is another baroque orchestra formed over fifty years ago and as with Leeds Baroque and Gabrieli committed to playing on period instruments. They describe themselves as “not just an orchestra on period instruments but a great orchestra – period”.
