The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage today published its Report on the Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the General Scheme of the Apartment and Duplex Defects Remediation Bill 2024. In October 2025, the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, referred the General Scheme of the Apartment and Duplex Defects Remediation Bill to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage for pre-legislative scrutiny. It would provide a statutory basis for the establishment of an Apartment and Duplex Defects Remediation Scheme. I would also like to thank the officials from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for their positive and constructive engagement with the Committee’s concerns.
