Stigma and taboo surrounding periods tackled with new scheme

The Menstrual Health Literature Scheme in Ceredigion supports young people when it comes to menstrual health in secondary and through-age schools and town libraries.
It is part of the county’s Period Dignity Scheme and is funded by Welsh Government’s Period Dignity Grant.
The scheme provides book packs with inclusive and accessible literature to support young people when it comes to menstrual health.
"By introducing accessible literature, we help to normalise conversations and reduce stigma, particularly for those who may find it difficult to seek information or support."
Chelsea Jones, a member of the Ceredigion Youth Council's Period Dignity Sub-Group, said: "As a young person, I think it’s really important that schools and libraries have books about period dignity and menstrual health.
