Yorkshire Water says the 5.6 per cent increase for average household water bills will help fund a £8.3 billion investment programme which will improve customer service and environmental outcomes across the region. The April increase is about average for the country, with some areas facing increases of 10 per cent. The increase, which was agreed by Ofwat in December 2024, is just above inflation and will enable Yorkshire Water it says to continue delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects, totalling £1.1bn between April 2026 and April 2027. The water company says it will also install 350,000 more smart meters to help its customers save water and reduce their bills.
