It is “fare la bella figura”, which roughly translated means to make a good impression. Many cultures have something similar, although perhaps they don’t attach quite as much importance to it as the Italians do. We can fool others, we may even fool ourselves, but there is one being we cannot hide from – God. It says we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” and describes God watching over us even as we are “knitted together in our mother’s womb”. God knows each of us intimately.
