The sculpture in the grounds of Boyle and Petyt Primary School in Bolton Abbey was unveiled by the Duke of Devonshire. Affectionately known as 'The Beamsley Shard', the sculpture was designed and donated by school teaching assistant, Debra Petty. With former pupils, staff and the local community coming together for a marvellous celebration of our school, which, after 150 years, still continues to grow and thrive”. Many brought along photos and items gathered from their days at the school, including a watch given in 1907 for 'good conduct'. The Boyle and Petyt School, which caters for pupils from three to 11 years-old, was opened on April 5 1875, amalgamating the Boyle School at Bolton Abbey and the Petyt School at Hazelwood.
