A statement from Cumbria Drug Alert Panel said 'the drug market has never been as dangerous.'
“Street drugs contaminated with Nitazenes, Fentanyl, Xylazine and Medetomidine are more likely to lead to a fatal overdose.
“Naloxone is an ‘antidote’ to an opioid overdose which works with Nitazenes and Fentanyl.”The following advice has been provided:· Don’t use alone.
· Using diazepam or pregabalin at the same time as heroin, methadone or other opioids increases the risk of overdose.
Drug treatment services can provide Naloxone, test strips and rapid access to opioid medication treatment.
