The club, in Ryedown Lane, West Wellow, has been shortlisted for the Respect in Golf Award at the 2026 England Golf Awards, recognising a year of meaningful progress in inclusivity, accessibility and modern governance. In 2025, the club undertook a full constitutional review, resulting in the introduction of equal male and female club captains — a landmark step towards gender equality in golf leadership. Wellow also champions intergenerational and cross‑sectional participation, ensuring juniors, seniors, women and men all have an equal voice in events and decision‑making. This proactive approach demonstrates Wellow’s belief that golf should be playable — and enjoyable — for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. Looking ahead, Wellow plans to expand leadership mentoring, enhance social golf opportunities, and continue reviewing policies and facilities to meet the evolving needs of its community.
