A 16-mile diversion has been issued by National Highways via the A34 and A303 to avoid the closure. Follow the A303, passing Popham Airfield, to filter onto the M3 at Junction 8, just before Basingstoke. Get on the A34 going southbound, passing Sutton Scotney, South Wonston and Kings Worthy until you reach Junction 9 at Winchester, where you can get on the M3 going south.
