On this day in 1928, a toy orchestra of first and second graders in Wahpeton, North Dakota, earned invitations to perform for the county teachers and the Masonic lodge. Members of the orchestra all are first and second grade students in the Wahpeton public schools and their instruments consist of sticks, bells, sandblocks, clappers, cymbals, tambourines, triangles, drums and an xylophone. The instructors consider the toy orchestra of exceptional value in developing a sense of rythm and in teaching children to concentrate.
