The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced plans to intensify enforcement efforts against unlicensed jewellery manufacturers, gold fabricators and gold refineries operating in the country, following concerns over widespread non-compliance with licensing requirements. 'It has come to the attention of the Ghana Gold Board ("GoldBod") that some jewellery manufacturers, fabricators and gold refineries are operating without a valid licence from the GoldBod," the statement read. The Authority stressed that only duly licensed persons and companies are permitted to engage in gold trading, jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication and gold refining activities in Ghana. "Engaging in these activities without a valid GoldBod licence constitutes an offence and punishable under Act 1140." This directive, GoldBod noted, was intended to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and to strengthen oversight within the gold trading sector.
