So, one wonders if the monies accruing to the NEDC have been deployed almost wholly towards personnel cost, how then are bridges being built?
Under Alkali’s leadership, NEDC has been deliberate in its focus on infrastructure, social services, human capital development, and economic revitalisation and not entirely paying office rents and inflated staff paychecks.
Beyond bricks and mortar, the NEDC has also set up a ₦6 billion Education Endowment Fund to support scholarships, infrastructure upgrades, and learning materials.
To this end, NEDC has invested in rural water supply programmes, including solar-powered boreholes in numerous communities.
Beyond infrastructure, the NEDC has invested in human capital development through vocational and digital skills training for youths and underserved groups across all six Northeast states.
