The supermarket has closed its in-store cafes since the announcement and said it would be replacing them with Costa Coffee stores. In February 2024, Costa Coffee said the move was “aimed at providing a fantastic new cafe experience for customers across the United Kingdom.”It said the investment was more than £3 million and by this summer, it's thought that 34 Sainsbury's stores will also be home to Costa Coffee stores.
