Other graffiti aimed racist slurs at Muslims and people from Pakistan, while other grim messages told immigrants to "go home". ‌The Liverpool ECHO has received numerous complaints from residents after racist messages and a large number of swastikas appeared under canal bridges and on walls in Merseyside communities. One person who witnessed the graffiti daubed on a canal bridge wall, wrote: "Every bridge [along the canal] had offensive and racist graffiti. A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We will not tolerate racist and hateful graffiti being committed in our community and we are carrying out enquiries to find the perpetrators.
