They warn that yielding to Trump’s energy demands would undermine EU sovereignty and climate goals.
In an open letter published on Thursday, 125 nongovernmental organizations urged European Union leaders to resist U.S. “fossil imperialism” in solidarity with Latin America and Greenland.
The environmental activists also denounced that the energy dominance Trump is pursuing in the fossil fuels sector amounts to the European Union’s submission.
While energy costs soar, it is the ordinary workers who must pay the cost.
“Apart from the fact that U.S. liquefied natural gas is worse than coal and very expensive, U.S. LNG projects pollute the air and water of nearby communities, increasing the risk of cancer, asthma and other serious health problems,” they add.
