Sainsbury’s said the increase, which it described as above inflation, will raise annual pay by more than £1,200 for full-time hourly-paid staff.
The move builds on a series of pay rises over recent years, with Sainsbury’s stating that hourly pay has increased by 42% over the past five years.
Sainsbury’s claims these discounts enable colleagues to save more than £600 a year on grocery shopping.
