Trio of Veteran-Focused Bills Signed into Law by President Donald Trump

News - The Maine Wire
President Donald Trump (R) signed a trio of bills focused on America’s veteran population into law last week.
All three pieces of legislation were approved by a voice vote in the House and by unanimous consent in the Senate.
The Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act, or HR 224, prevents compensation from service-connected disabilities from being considered when determining someone’s eligibility for income-restricted benefits.
By amending section 102(a)(20) of the 1974 Housing and Community Development Act in this manner, a larger portion of the disabled veteran population will now qualify for access to affordable housing programs.
Under the VA Budget Shortfall Accountability Act, or HR 1823, reporting on funding gaps within the Department of Veterans Affairs is now mandatory.
