NHRC orders immediate halt to garbage dumping at Macha Bollaram graveyardThe National Human Rights Commission has ordered an immediate halt to municipal garbage dumping and waste transfer operations at the Hindu graveyard in Macha Bollaram, citing human rights violations, dignity of the deceased and public health concerns.
Directions were issued to district and GHMC authorities.
By Telangana Today Updated On - 29 January 2026, 03:53 PMHyderabad: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken serious note of the ongoing municipal garbage dumping at the Hindu Graveyard in Macha Bollaram and has issued clear directions for its immediate stoppage.
The NHRC has ordered that garbage dumping and transfer operations being carried out by GHMC and the private agency Ramky at the transfer station located in and around the Hindu Graveyard must be stopped forthwith, according to a press release issued by Macha Bollaram Joint Action Committee.
Following the NHRC’s directions, Macha Bollaram Joint Action Committee President B.S.Uday Prakash, has urged the District Collector and the GHMC Commissioner to immediately stop all dumping-related activities in compliance with the NHRC orders.
