Bellway secures approval for 208-home schemeA housebuilder is preparing to build a new scheme on the former site of Bishop’s Stortford High School, after the school relocated to a new purpose-built campus. Newcastle-headquartered Bellway has been granted detailed planning permission to build 208 homes at Scholars Walk, a 17-acre site off London Road. The land purchase has enabled Bishop’s Stortford High School to move into new premises at St James’ Park in the town. The development will feature 125 homes for private sale and 83 affordable homes, including a mix of houses and apartments. Bellway will invest more than £4.5 million into local services and infrastructure, with funding set aside for education, healthcare, sustainable transport and community facilities.
